Choir
Students in year one and two can participate in junior choir rehearsal on a Thursday morning before school. Students in grade three to six can participate in a senior choir rehearsal on Friday mornings. Students perform throughout the year at school events.
Instrumental Music
Students in Years 3 – 6 are provided with the opportunity to apply for the Instrumental Music Program each year. Strings begin in Year 3 and Woodwind, Brass and Percussion begin in Year 4. A Strings Instructor and Woodwind, Brass and Percussion Instructor visit the school each week to provide half-hour group lessons during the school day.
A strong commitment from parents and students is required for participation in the Instrumental Music Program. Parents are asked to pay an annual levy to cover costs associated with the Instrumental Music Program. There are a small number of instruments are available for hire through the school each year.Students also have an opportunity to participate in the JPSS String Orchestra and JPSS Concert Band as part of their involvement in the instrumental music program. These ensembles rehearsal before or after school and are an essential part of the Instrumental Music Curriculum.
