Prep Transition Process

Starting school is an important milestone in a child's life and the transition period to formal schooling is a critical time that shapes long-term educational experiences.
As a school, we are tasked with the responsibility to plan and enact transition strategies that effectively support each child and meet their individual needs so that every child succeeds. Effective transition processes are integral to establishing positive relationships and a feeling of belonging for all. The Junction Park SS Prep Transition Process aims to give families multiple opportunities to engage with the school and for our school community to get to know our future Prep students.

Term 2
School Tours – Principal

This the perfect opportunity to learn more about the school community and see how a typical Prep class operates.

Term 3
Prep Interviews
Families meet with a School Leadership Member and current Prep Teacher to learn more about our future Prep students. These will be scheduled after receiving enrolment information.

Term 4
Transition Days
Students will have opportunities before the Orientation Day to visit for short morning sessions to experience different activities in the school. This includes an inside play session, outside play session and Specialist lessons (The Arts and HPE). Dates are confirmed and communicated in Term 3.

Orientation Day
Students will be placed in their class groups and spend the morning with their Prep class teacher and teacher aide in their future classroom. This Orientation Day occurs late Term 4 and the date is confirmed in Term 3.
