Yoshimi Machi Visit

What a wonderful experience it has been to have our visitors from Yoshimi Machi Junior High School visit Junction Park.  When they arrived last Friday they were quiet and I would say slightly overwhelmed after their long journey.  They have enjoyed many experiences in their time with their homestay families and time at school.  For these students to experience the culture of Australia in the spirit they have is amazing.  They enjoyed some great Australian traditions like BBQ, Vegemite, shepherd's pie, lamingtons, boomerang throwing, thong throwing, just to name a few.  At the same time, our students not only had an opportunity to practice their Japanese, but also some classes were involved with the Yoshimi Machi students teaching our students origami and some string tricks.  The gift from Yoshimi Machi Junior High were some ‘Kingyo’ (goldfish), that we have hanging in the administration building; they are a great memento of the visit.  Thank you to the families who opened their homes for these students and to the staff of the school who contributed to making their visit so successful.
