Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day was commemorated at Junction Park on 11 November with a minute’s silence at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Maddy O and Charlotte M were invited to read their award winning essays at the Stephens Sub Branch of the RSL’s Memorial Service held at the Yeronga Cenotaph. The girls are pictured with Mr John Strachan, President of the Sub Branch.

Ruby L from Year 4 was also invited to sing her very moving song that developed from a poem through collaboration with Grant Nelson.

Remembrance Day was also observed at a special Senior Assembly last Thursday. Mrs te Kloot and Year 6/7T led this assembly to explain the significance of Remembrance Day.
The students personalised this assembly by acknowledging the 86 Junction Park students who participated in the First World War and whose names are recorded on the Honour Board in the Activities Room.
