Green Team Update

17/06/2015
Working Bee Report and Meeting this Week

Thanks so much to Ky, Mr Hyde, Soraya, Chris, Mark, Mrs Massey, Mrs Todd, Simon and the four volunteers from Boeing (Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program sponsors) plus very helpful children including Sisi, Lucia, Anouk, Tom and Brendan who came to the working bee on Saturday.

Here is what was achieved in the orchard area:
- grass removal
- garden construction
- passionfruit transplant
- trellis construction
- Tahitian Lime transplant
- construction and installation of small raised beds
- trees and gardens fertilised
- mulching

At the front of the school Mark and the workers cleared one of the oval garden beds. Mark has a idea for a butterfly garden, and he'll submit a plan for it to the School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) group.

The Boeing people want to come back in late July with more helpers to continue this work, including removing more grass in the orchard, mulching and creating pathways plus more weeding at the front of the school. If there are other ideas for them to help with (Prep campus people, here's your chance!), please just reply to let us know.

We are holding a Green Team meeting for general news and updates on Friday 19 June 8.15 am. Please let us know if you are available/interested in coming. Or if you can't come but would like to be on the Green Team email list just email jpssgreenteam@gmail.com Everyone who is interested is welcome to be on the list, so please join and learn more!

Thanks!
Tricia, Green Team Secretary
(Mum of Tom in 3T and Brendan in 1D, and current recipient of emails to jpssgreenteam@gmail.com)
