Clever Coding with 3L

On Monday, parents were invited to attend a presentation on coding by the students of 3L.  The children have been working hard and are very proud of their new skills.  They programmed 'The Lorax' on Scratch Junior, an iPad coding app.  Here's what the parents and students had to say about it:

From Parents
Impressive!   I was really pleased to see the combination of design (backgrounds and characters), maths, science and technology at work in their animations. The grandparents were interested to see the changing face of education, a far cry from the repetitive learning style from ‘their day’.
Very clever!  A great way to express themselves creatively.  The kids had created some fantastic animations of the Lorax, the Once-ler, the Truffula trees, the Swomee-Swans and Humming Fish. I really liked reading the speech bubbles of what the children had come up with, for the orientation, complication, and resolution.
From Students
Hard to code – challenge.
Interesting to see other children’s designs.
Drawing the characters/landscape.
Parents seeing what coding the children used.
For the future we can make games.
For the future to have a better knowledge about using computers and iPads.
